AT BOOKWORKS IN ALBUQUERQUE

Two New Mexico writers will share the program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Bookworks.

Deborah Jackson Taffa talks about her new memoir, “Whiskey Tender,” which has been described as “unexpected and propulsive.” Taffa is also a playwright and the director of the Master of Fine Arts creative writing program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.

The other writer is Jamie Figueroa, who will chat about her nonfiction work, “Mother Island: A Daughter Claims Puerto Rico.” Figueroa’s book has been praised as a “deeply felt investigation into home, lineage and selfhood.” She lives in northern New Mexico.

Albuquerque’s David Ryan will discuss and sign copies of his new travel book “Wandering in the Clear Light of New Mexico” at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21.

AT TREASURE HOUSE IN ALBUQUERQUE

Treasure House Books & Gifts hosts several authors this week.

J.L. Greger of Bernalillo will read from and sign copies of “Escape from a Dark Cave,” the latest in the author’s “Science Traveler” mystery series, noon-3 p.m. Sunday, March 17. In the new installment, FBI scientific consultant Sara Almquist confronts the truth as she investigates the murder of a young man near an historic New Mexico cave.

From 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, Wendy Cohan will read from and autograph copies of “Love Child,” book two of her “Inn at Verde Springs” romance trilogy. In book two, Paige Crawley meets Ed Barrett, who plays Renaissance music. One night of frolic leads to an unanticipated detour in her life.

AT COLLECTED WORKS IN SANTA FE

Jamie Figueroa will talk about her new book “Mother Island: A Daughter Claims Puerto Rico” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. She will be in conversation with b brown.

Cynthia Jurs discusses and signs her book “Summoned by the Earth: Becoming a Holy Vessel for Healing Our World” at 6 p.m. Friday, March 22. In 1990, Jurs carries a question to an old lama in a cave in the Himalayas. In response, the lama assigns her to procure earth treasure vases made of clay and potent medicines, fill them with prayers and symbolic offerings and bury them where healing is called for. So began a journey of a lifetime for Jurs, a Buddhist teacher.

AT SOMOS IN TAOS

Kristen Woolf and Janay Morgan Mallon will read from the recently-published writings of long-time Taos resident Bjorn Halvorsen.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at SOMOS, 108 Civic Plaza Drive, Taos.
