AT BOOKWORKS

Bookworks hosts two events this week.

At 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, several contributors to “Deep Wild: Writing from the Backcountry” will read from the 2024 edition of the publication.

Then at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, Magdalena Sandoval Donahue will discuss and read from “Roadside Geology of New Mexico” (second edition).

The bookstore is located at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd. NW.

IN CORRALES

Mary Ellen Capek will read from her new book “Love Lessons: Poems 1973-2023” at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the Corrales Community Library, 84 West La Entrada. Capek will also be in conversation with Hilda Raz at the event. Raz wrote a blurb, praising Capek’s book as “a sample of her brilliant mind at work on a long life spent in intellectual endeavor and joyful living. What a treat!”

AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 15 writers will read their poems or brief excerpts from their prose that appear in “ABQ InPrint 8: An Occasional Publication” (2024). In addition, artists’ images that accompany some of the writing will be displayed.

Books on the Bosque is located at 6261 Riverside Plaza Lane NW.

AT TREASURE HOUSE BOOKS & GIFTS

Mystery writers Martha Kemm Landes and Daniel Landes of Rio Rancho will sign copies of their novels from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Treasure House Books & Gifts. Kemm Landes’ mystery is “Pity the Reluctant Fan.” Landes’ mystery is titled “The Amish Cookie Bandit.”

Treasure House is located at 2012 South Plaza St. NW, Old Town.

AT COLLECTED WORKS

Author Lynn Stegner will be in conversation with JoAnn Mapson about “The Half-Life of Guilt,” Stegner’s new novel that tells the story of Clair Bugato and Mason Comstock. They travel to the world’s largest saltworks in Baja California, where a proposed expansion threatens the California gray whale population, which had recently returned from the brink of extinction.

The event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Collected Works, 202 Galisteo St., Santa Fe.

AT GARCIA STREET BOOKS

Lynne Spriggs O’Connor will chat about her book “Elk Love: A Montana Memoir” at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, on the portal of the bookstore.

AT GERONIMO’S BOOKS

At 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Geronimo’s Books, Renata Golden discusses “Mountain Time: A Field Guide to Astonishment,” essays about the Chiracahua Mountains on the New Mexico-Arizona border. Geronimo’s Books is located at 3018 Cielo Court, Santa Fe.

SOMOS Salon will host four events this week.

Emily Lutken will read from “A Thousand Places Left Behind: One Soldier’s Account of Jungle Warfare in WWII Burma” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

The editor and three contributors to “Deep Wild: Writing from the Backcountry” will read from the 2024 edition of the publication at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Taos environmental journalist Jim O’Donnell will read from “Fountain Creek: Big Lessons from a Little River” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, Christie Green will discuss her book “Moonlight Elk: One Woman’s Hunt for Food and Freedom” and Erika Howsare will talk about her book “The Age of Deer: Trouble and Kinship with Our Wild Neighbors.”
