Fire restrictions lifted by BLM

Published Modified

The Bureau of Land Management has lifted the fire restrictions on public lands in the Albuquerque and Las Cruces districts effective July 8. The change affects the following counties: Bernalillo, Catron, Cibola, Doña Ana, Hidalgo, Grant, Luna, McKinley, Otero, Sandoval, Sierra, Socorro, Torrance and Valencia. The restrictions were lifted due to increasing precipitation and higher humidity, which lowers fire risk, according to the BLM.

However, Fire Prevention Order NM910-25-01, which prohibits the use of fireworks and other explosive devices on BLM lands, remains in effect. For more information on restrictions, visit nmfireinfo.com.
