April Garcia of Albuquerque caught a 10-inch brook trout at Cabresto Lake using a Prince Nymph fly on June 25.

At Eagle Nest Lake, Abe Henderson, 10, of Albuquerque caught an 18.5-inch, 2-pound rainbow trout using a Woolly Bugger fly on June 27. … Mike Hostetler of Albuquerque caught (and juggled) an 18-inch rainbow trout using Salmon Peach PowerBait on June 27.

Stacy Fulgenzi and Jayden Valdez, 10, of Las Vegas both caught multiple trout on the Pecos River using flies on June 25.

Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Monday morning was 20 cubic feet per second (cfs).

Fishing for trout at Clayton Lake was fair using PowerBait. Fishing for catfish was fair using chicken liver and nightcrawler worms.

Fishing for smallmouth bass at Conchas Lake was fair to good using Senko Worms and crankbaits. Fishing for walleye was fair trolling using silver Rapala lures, nightcrawler worm harness-spinner rigs and Flicker Shad lures. Fishing for crappie was fair using live minnows and small crankbaits.

Fishing for trout at Costilla Creek was fair using bead-head nymph flies.

Cowles Ponds had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout at Coyote Creek was good using gold Hare’s Ear nymph flies.

Fishing for walleye at Ute Lake was fair using bottom-bouncer nightcrawler harness rigs, jigs tipped with nightcrawler worms and jigs tipped with Gulp minnows in 10-20 feet of water. Fishing for white bass was good using swimbaits, casting spoons and shallow-running crankbaits. Fishing for crappie was slow. Fishing for catfish was fair using punch bait. Fishing for bass was fair using Senko worms in shallow water and with drop-shot rigs in 10-15 feet of water on lake points. The main lake water surface temperature was in the mid-70s and the water was cloudy.

Fishing for tiger muskie at Bluewater Lake was fair to good using live waterdogs and rainbow-trout-pattern swimbaits.

Fishing for trout at Canjilon Lakes was good using brown and gold Joe’s Flies, Pistol Pete spinner flies, and Jerry’s Weedless Flies.

Streamflow on the Rio Chama below El Vado Lake on Monday morning was 539 cfs; streamflow below Abiquiú Lake on Monday morning was 593 cfs. Fishing for trout near the town of Chama was good using streamer flies, leech-pattern flies, pink Squirmy Wormy flies and egg-pattern flies. Fishing for trout below Abiquiú Lake was slow to fair using bead-head nymph flies. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of two trout only.

Fishing for catfish on the Rio Grande was good using nightcrawler worms.

Bonito Lake is closed until further notice by the City of Alamogordo due to fire damage. The lake is full but needs time for aquatic habitat to develop in order to sustain a healthy fish population. The city hopes to reopen the lake for recreational purposes in June 2024.
