Logan Herrera, 4, of Santa Fe caught multiple smallmouth bass, crappie, white bass and walleye at Conchas Lake using bright-colored Flicker Shad lures and worm-harness rigs on May 19.

Christina Martinez, 12, caught a 20-inch rainbow trout at Burns Lake using Garlic PowerBait on May 18.

Sj Mitchell, 7, of Thoreau caught a rainbow trout at McGaffey Lake using a Panther Martin spinner on May 19.

April Garcia of Albuquerque caught a 17-inch brown trout at San Juan River using a red annelid fly in the Quality Waters on May 19.

Owen Middagh, 12, of Albuquerque caught and released a 15-inch largemouth bass at Tingley Beach using a white curly-tail grub on May 19.

At Elephant Butte Lake, Elijah Tibuni-Zapanta, 11, of El Paso caught his limit of white bass using Flicker Shad lures on May 19. … Jonell Zamora of Deming caught white bass, smallmouth bass and walleye, all using a chrome Kastmaster lure on May 13.

Anthony Silva of Socorro caught a 26-inch catfish on the Rio Grande using chicken liver near Socorro on May 9.

Nick Keele of Hobbs caught a 19.5-inch, 4.1-pound largemouth bass at Chaparral Park Lake using a Texas-rigged, green Bandito plastic bug on May 19.

Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Monday morning was 22 cubic feet per second (cfs). Fishing for trout was fair using worms and bead-head, mayfly-pattern nymph flies.

Fishing for smallmouth bass at Conchas Lake was good using bright-colored Flicker Shad lures, white fluke lures and green tube baits. Fishing for walleye was good using bright-colored Flicker Shad lures and worm-harnesses rigs. Fishing for white bass was good using bright-colored Flicker Shad lures. Fishing for crappie was fair to good using bright-colored Flicker Shad lures.

Costilla Creek had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout at Cowles Ponds was good using salmon eggs.

Eagle Nest Lake is open to fishing and boating. Fishing for trout was good using Salmon-Peach PowerBait, and trolling using Panther Martin spinners, red-and-white Dardevle Spoons and Garlic PowerBait. Fishing for pike was slow to fair using red-and-white Dardevle spoons and red-and-black Bucktail Streamer flies. Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday morning was 1,040 cfs. Fishing for trout was slow to fair using nymph flies. Anglers reported high water levels and poor visibility due to runoff water from melting snow in the high country.

The main lake’s water surface temperature was in the mid-60s and the water’s color was clear.
