Last time Fortune Feimster was in Albuquerque, it was to kick off her last comedy tour.

“We didn’t know what to expect, and Albuquerque turned out,” Feimster says. “It really added to how special the last tour was. I’m grateful for the show setting the tone for the tour.”

Because of that warm welcome, Feimster is bringing “Takin’ Care of Biscuits Comedy Tour” to the Kiva Auditorium on Thursday, April 10.

The comedian put together all new material for the tour.

“I took a break from touring since November,” Feimster explains. “It really doesn’t feel like a break because my Netflix special (‘Crushing It’) came out in December and I’ve been writing since then. I tell my wife that it’s a vacation for me, when it’s really only a vacation from being on the road.”

Aside from stand-up comedy, Feimster keeps busy. She will be seen in the second season of the Netflix series “FUBAR,” alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Feimster is also in the driver’s seat of the podcast “Handsome,” with fellow comedians Tig Notaro and Mae Martin.

The podcast was launched in August 2023 and the show has amassed over 20 million downloads.

If that isn’t enough, Feimster co-hosts the Sirius XM radio show “What A Joke with Papa and Fortune.”

“I’m very good about my schedule and calendar in finding times for all the jobs,” she says with a laugh. “I should learn to say ‘No’ a little bit more. I’m more productive when I’m working, which makes the downtime so much more worth it.”

As far as new material goes, Feimster doesn’t stray too far from her life.

“I pick up where the last special left off,” she explains. “There are fun stories about my wife and I traveling. Then I’m digging back into my childhood stories. I’ve found myself talking more about my dad. It’s fun to have him in the hot seat for a minute. My comedy is based on where life is at the moment.”

Feimster continues to focus on her storytelling style and is taking a serious look at acting.

“I’m in that sweet spot where I can go into a film or TV project, act ridiculous and leave. I do want to have bigger parts in movies. I want to produce and be on the more creative side of those kinds of projects. It takes time and I keep digging into them. … I’m ready to expand on my own.”

Feimster has fond memories of when she filmed a part of the film “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” in 2021.

“We filmed our little scene in Albuquerque where I worked at a Christmas shop,” Feimster said. “I realized that there’s an actual Christmas shop in Old Town. I find that being able to dip my toes between comedy and film is a great place to find balance.”
