Images of inspiration: Albuquerque-based fashion designer Kenn Ashe to put on fashion show on Oct. 11
Kenn Ashe has created artwork for decades.
The Albuquerque-based artist will take some of the art he creates and showcase it on another medium – clothing.
“My artwork and images of saints are set in the modern day,” Ashe says. “It’s something I play around with while I’m working with Photoshop.”
Ashe will put on a fashion show during the Variety Showcase from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Tractor Brewing Company Wells Park.
The event will feature comedy, music and Ashe’s fashion show from Carpe Diem Manana.
“Everything I make is by hand and it’s made when you order it,” Ashe says. “There’s no waste and it’s environmentally friendly.”
When it comes to inspiration, Ashe will either have his camera or phone on him and snap pictures.

The images vary, but each one gives him inspiration.
“There’s a photo I have of Estela’s in Las Vegas, and I’m using it as one of the designs,” Ashe says.
Ashe also enjoys using New Mexico as his inspiration. His dad was born in Golondrinas and his mom was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
“I was born in Albuquerque and I find inspiration from all around,” he says. “It’s important for me to incorporate all of it into my art.”
Ashe also enjoys creating the clothing with the patterns.
“I’ll often come up with some really weird ways of strategically placing an image somewhere,” he says. “Fashion is for making a mark and being noticed. I think my designs do just that.”
