SONG SHEET COVER COLLECTION PUBLISHED
Sunstone Press of Santa Fe has published “American Indians as Depicted on Song Sheet Covers Since 1833.” The person who collected most of the covers is Frank Tinari, a retired professor of economics at Seton Hall University and the author of the book.
There are more than 700 song sheet covers in the book, which includes a comprehensive annotated bibliography of sheet music books and a listing of illustrators of American Indian song sheets.
The song sheet depictions bridge “the genres of music, art illustration, collectible song sheets, Native American history and American popular culture,” according to the book’s back cover.
