Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort is hosting its annual Cardboard Derby from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Participants build vessels before race day, using only cardboard, duct tape, string, twine and paint. Then individuals and teams slide down the mountain for a chance at one of dozens of prizes.
Prize categories range from most creative vessel to closest to the mark, or even, the slowest vessel. The event is free for spectators and $10 to enter a vessel at sipapu.ski/event/cardboard-derby.
“The vibe of this longtime event is pure Sipapu,” said John Paul Bradley, general manager at Sipapu, in a news release. “The event attracts families, friends and individuals who put their heart and soul into these cardboard contraptions.”
Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort is located at 5224 Highway 518 in Vadito.
