Two authors to discuss latest works at Books on the Bosque on Oct. 28
AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE
Authors Phyllis M. Skoy of Placitas and Lynn C. Miller of Albuquerque will read from and discuss their recent books at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Books on the Bosque. Skoy’s latest book is titled “A Coup,” the final installment of a trilogy of novels set in Turkey. The two previous volumes are “As They Are” and “What Survives,” the latter was first runner-up for Legacy Fiction for the 2016 Eric Hoffer Awards.
Miller’s most recent book is the short story collection “The Lost Archive.” Besides being an author, she is also an educator, a playwright and a performer of solo pieces about literary figures.

AT BOOKWORKS
Noted Albuquerque landscape designer Judith Phillips discusses and signs copies of her new large-format book “The Gardens of Los Poblanos” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Bookworks.
The cultivated gardens are on the 25-acre Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm is located in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Phillips was familiar with the gardens before she had begun researching the book. She was a consultant on plant selection for two garden expansions over the last 15 years.

AT TREASURE HOUSE BOOKS & GIFTS
Cindy Sloan Butts signs copies of her book “No Crying, Pleading or Praying: From Aktion T4 to the Gas Chambers” from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Treasure House Books & Gifts. The book is a work of historical fiction. T4 was the codename for a program of Nazi mass murders through involuntary euthanasia. Victims were adults and children deemed physically or mentally disabled, mentally ill, emotionally distraught or elderly. The program was set up just before the start of World War II.
Sloan Butts is a New Mexico author. The store is located at 2012 South Plaza St. in Old Town.
AT COLLECTED WORKS
Collected Works will host these two author events this week. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, Albuquerque resident Brittany Means talks about her new book “Hell If We Don’t Change Our Ways.” It is described as being part-memoir and part-coming-of-age feminist tale, as well as a story of self-preservation, resilience and hope. … At 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, photographer William Frej and Santa Fe rock art scholar Polly Schaafsma will be in conversation with editor Anne Frej about the new book “Blurred Boundaries: Perspectives on Rock Art of the Greater Southwest.” Schaafsma wrote the essay for the book. William Frej took the black-and-white photographs that appear in it.
Collected Works is located at 202 Galisteo St., downtown Santa Fe.
IN TAOS
The SOMOS bookstore is hosting two events this week. At 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, local author Josephine Ashton will present her new historical novel “Ride the Wild Wind: Sheriff Robert Gallegos — Friends and Enemies.” The novel is set in a fictional town between Mesilla and El Paso. … A handful of Taos area poets whose poems are in the “New Mexico Poetry Anthology 2023” will read from their work at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The poets are Charlie Kalogeros-Chattan, Veronica Golos, Kate Marco and Shelli Rottschafer. A fifth poet, Coral Dawn Bernal, will be represented by her family.
The bookstore is located at 108 Civic Plaza Dr. in Taos.
