SANTA FE — The Bernalillo County Commission is seeking applicants to fill the remainder of state Rep. Christine Trujillo’s term in Albuquerque.

Trujillo, a Democrat and retired teacher, resigned earlier this summer after 11 years in office.

Whoever is appointed to replace her would finish out the rest of her two-year term, through the end of 2024. To keep the job, they’d have to win the primary election in June and general election in November.

Bernalillo County will accept applications through noon July 28, and the commission plans to make an appointment Aug. 11.

The appointee would be in position to serve during next year’s 30-day session, which begins Jan. 16.

House District 25 covers a patch of Albuquerque roughly between Lomas and Montgomery and Carlisle and Louisiana. The appointee must live in the district.

Letters of interest and resumes can be emailed to manager@bernco.gov, or they can mailed or submitted in person to the Bernalillo County Manager’s Office, Julie Morgas Baca, 415 Silver Avenue SW, Eighth Floor, Albuquerque, N.M., 87102.
