Participants in this year’s plunge sported costumes, swimming caps and robes as they jumped in collectively, braving the around 40-degree waters of the Sierra Vista Pool on Saturday morning. The AL’BURRR’QUERQUE polar plunge, hosted by the city of Albuquerque’s Parks & Recreation Department, benefits the Strong Swim Fund. A total of $5,000 was raised, of which 10% will be used to provide special enrichment items for the ABQ BioPark polar bears and penguins.
