The Albuquerque Police Department arrested a 19-year-old man in the drive-by shooting that killed an Albuquerque Academy student at a West Side house party.

Julian Prieb is charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the Dec. 17, 2022, death of 18-year-old Jada Gonzales. Prieb was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Friday.

Prieb’s family told the Journal they weren’t sure if he has an attorney.

APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said Prieb was in a car with Jesse Parra, Cruz Medina, Isaiah Espinoza and another man when someone fired shots from the vehicle at a house.

He said the group had been kicked out of the house, where a party was going on, prior to the shooting. One of the bullets fired into the house hit Gonzales, killing her.

Parra, Medina, and Espinoza, were arrested in late January.
