One man is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 early Tuesday morning in Albuquerque.

According to witness statements, a silver Ford pickup was traveling west on I-40 near the Eubank exit when the truck drifted across all lanes of traffic and hit the barrier on the north shoulder and rolled, according to an Albuquerque Police Department news release.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the crash and pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Albuquerque police officers arrived at the scene at 3 a.m. and, after an initial investigation, ruled out excessive speed and intoxication as causes of the crash.

Police suspect that a medical episode or a vehicle malfunction caused the crash.
