The windy conditions that brought a plethora of dust into Albuquerque on Monday continued on Tuesday.

Albuquerque and Bernalillo County saw gusts as high as 60 mph, National Weather Service of Albuquerque meteorologist Matt DeMaria said.

Gusts were even stronger in other parts of the state. Tucumcari and the Magdalena area saw 70 mph and 71 mph winds, respectively, DeMaria said.

Winds were expected to start dying down in the evening, though they could remain as high as 50 mph until 11 p.m., when the high-wind warning will expire, he said.

Another storm system is expected to come to the metro area Wednesday night into Thursday, but heavy winds will not accompany this one.

DeMaria said there could be a rain and snow mix Wednesday night with temperatures in the low- to mid-30s.

Power outage outside Albuquerque

Public Service Co. of New Mexico reported two wind-related outages on Tuesday, which affected about 2,400 customers in the Las Vegas and East Mountain areas, PNM spokeswoman Kelly Huber said.

Huber said PNM is asking any customer who is experiencing an outage to report it by texting #OUT to 78766 from the phone number associated with their account or go to PNM.com/Outage.
