Opinion : Speak Up!

Since PRESIDENT TRUMP was reelected, he has repeatedly ignored constitutional law and promoted himself as above the law, desiring autocratic leadership. Now he's attacking countries with leaders he considers to be dictators. Is this like the kettle calling the pot black? KG

POTUS seems to be increasingly obsessed with using the military to achieve his objective of always getting his way. This, of course, is incredibly dangerous and can have many unintended consequences. Reasons for particular actions tend to be unclear and confusing. Is this the leadership Americans want and deserve? MY

Sadly the Whitehouse is posting hype videos of real IRAN WAR footage alongside movie, video game clips and making gloating comments. The war in Iran is no fake movie, cartoon or video game. To those who have proudly served with life and limb, I praise you. DD

China's a major supplier for Russia's defense industry. North Korea is supplying Russia with equipment and personnel in the Ukraine. And now Russia is giving military intelligence to support IRAN in Trump's war. The same belligerents that backed North Vietnam are coagulating together. Could Iran backslide into a new Vietnam? JMR

Republican members of Congress have suggested that MUSLIMS should be banned from America. Let me remind everyone that some of our first colonies were founded on the principle of religious freedom. The First Amendment guarantees religious freedom. It is time for more mutual respect and understanding and less hate. AF

A common thread within the TRUMP ADMINISTRATION is their dismissive attitude whenever they are asked a question about an action they have taken. That's if they even bother to answer the question at all. They could care less that it's our tax dollars they are burning through. Keep voting Republican! CT

Why does Trump have to wear a red or white BASEBALL CAP when performing official duties? It seemed especially disrespectful when he wore one during the dignified transfer of six soldiers killed during Iran's attack on a U.S. military base. The cap seems incongruous compared to the suit and tie. Show respect! RS

According to Occupy Democrats, Trump has spent 97 of the first 413 days of his presidency on a GOLF COURSE at taxpayers' expense, including just recently as the Middle East war rages on while our service members are facing life and death. This is called "leadership?” DO

The Pentagon apparently stopped PHOTOGRAPHERS from attending press briefings on the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war in Iran after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's staff decided recent photos of him were “unflattering.” Facts don't care about the secretary of war's feelings! Trump finally fires SECRETARY NOEM, but wait, he creates a new special envoy position for the Shield of America's new security initiative — seriously? So when will AG Bondi be fired for lying to Congress or FBI Director Patel for joyriding in government-owned jets? Our tax dollars at work. CM

NM Rep. Melanie Stansbury clearly has never had a relative or loved one serve in the military. If she did, she must not have liked them very much. I wish she would fixate on actual FRAUD happening within the New Mexico government. AN

Democratic governors love to leave behind their legacy. Gov. Richardson left us with the Spaceport and RailRunner, while Gov. Lujan Grisham leaves us her legacy of UNIVERSAL CHILD CARE. Richardson's legacies are a waste of taxpayer dollars, it has yet to be seen if Lujan Grisham's welfare program will be the same. GH

Wake up, lemmings. There is no such thing as “FREE CHILD CARE.” It will actually cost NM taxpayers $500 million or more per year. Every year. Until forever. Thanks, MLG. RJ

So candidate Sam Bergman is griping about DEB HAALAND refusing to do debates. Hogwash. She has a televised one on PBS soon. Plenty of town halls and community forums. I'm not interested in Bergman's loud, courtroom-drama persona. Let him get his coveted photo ops somewhere else. JP

I personally would like to see a debate between BREGMAN AND HAALAND before the primary election. For me, the race exists at the primary level because it is very unlikely I would vote for a Republican candidate, especially given the candidates they are fielding in 2026. RF

Since Medicaid is now covering traditional NATIVE MEDICINE, will they also be covering other traditional medicines, such as Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, etc.? BM

Gratitude to the City of ABQ for the cleaning and chip-freshening NORTH DOMINGO BACA DOG PARK. Citizens who come and stare at phones or yak with each other, while allowing their dogs to dump without removing it show contempt for our city. Be the change you want to see in the world! AH

True journalism is investigating important stories and presenting the results to the public as an unbiased opinion. The ABQ JOURNAL doing its own investigation into the Zorro Ranch affair is an excellent example. The government's attempt at investigating falls short because it may have a vested interest in the outcome. GH

Regarding PASEO/UNSER EXPANSION: This should have happened 10 years ago before the thousands of new homes were built. Progress is like watching the grass grow. Barrells went up, some dirt was moved, then nothing. It'll take 10 years to finish at this rate! BO

More news from the ROYAL FAMILY. The world is tearing itself apart and we are offered news about petty royal slights and trivia. It's time for this anachronistic phase of English history to pass into oblivion. JM
