We recently imposed a 10% TARIFF on a group of desolate, uninhabited volcanic islands near Antarctica, covered in glaciers and inhabited only by penguins. Good! Those penguins have been cheating us for years. Furthermore, ICE should immediately deport all of the vicious gang-member penguins from America. Penguins must go! EM

Tariffs that are reciprocal are designed to cause the removal of all tariffs. This will take a little time but will provide GOOD JOBSfor Americans. It is starting to work and over 75 countries have come forward to accept the tariffs and bring jobs back to America! SS

Why can the president start a trade war with the world and yet cannot bring back a prisoner he mistakenly sent to a brutal prison in EL SALVADOR? He says he has no power even though the Supreme Court has ordered him to do so. Maybe he can’t stand a prisoner interview. GK

Happily, last year, for the first time, the U.S. generated more electricity from wind/solar than it did from COAL. There are 10,000 proposed wind/solar projects in the pipeline representing double our current capacity. Along comes Trump who plans to revive coal production in a big way. What? WS

President Trump continues to pile up wins for America’s WORKING CLASS. Virtually everything he touches turns to gold. I’m concerned, however, about New Mexico’s naysayers. Will they be able to get used to secure borders, plummeting energy prices and microscopic inflation? My, my, poor things ... EC

For those of us who are unhappy with how things are going in New Mexico, i.e. crime, education and wasteful spending, voting for DEB HAALAND will bring us more of the same. Her party has controlled the state for decades. She will not be a candidate for change. SS

I don’t often agree with our governor but I do agree that our LEGISLATURE could have and should have focused on more important issues facing our state like crime, juvenile justice, homelessness and diversifying our economic base rather than proclaiming the tortilla as the state bread. TB

Our state LEGISLATURE passed 195 new laws this year. Do we have enough laws yet? Do we have too many already? When will law “makers” become law “maintainers,” reviewing, amending and repealing laws that are out-of-date or simply have made no recognizable difference since their passing? DB

So MAYOR TIM KELLER wants a third term to protect us from President Trump. Really? Who’s going to protect us against him and Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham? Based on how low Albuquerque’s reputation is, including needing the National Guard because of all the crime, and the state reputation, they both need to go. SGN

To Dan Lewis, participants at the “HANDS OFF RALLY” were not “far-left political allies” of Mayor Keller. Many of us were first-time protesters who value our Constitution and were moved to action in middle age (and beyond) by the tyrannical, destructive actions of President Trump and his appointees. MJD

Journal SPEAK-UPS would have readers believe everyone in New Mexico hates Trump. Simply not true. Opinion harvesting is to convince the public, so many people dislike Trump, you should too. Trump supporters voted to stop the progressive Democrat agenda of socialism through bankruptcy. There’s nothing to dislike about that. MM

Now that Bill Richardson is no longer among us, perhaps it is time to close the SPACEPORT. Branson’s Virgin Galactic will never prove to be a profitable venture. Bezos and Musk have excelled in the space tourism world, leaving others behind. Time to save taxpayer dollars. GHw

If the goal of the SPEED CAMERAS truly was to slow drivers down, and make everybody safer, (not just a revenue source) wouldn’t it make more sense to post signs: “This area is monitored by speed cameras?” Voila! Slower/safer drivers. Apparently, the only real goal is to generate revenue. DC

I was interested to read the education scorecard in the Journal. Three proficiency ratings were below 40% and one below 30%. Yet the graduation rate was 70%. I interpret that as meaning our SCHOOLS are graduating students that do not meet proficiency standards in at least one subject. CAM
