Amateur boxing: 5 New Mexicans win at Silver Gloves regionals

Las Cruces amateur boxer Austin Sanchez, fresh off his winning a USA Boxing Bantam Division national title last month in Richmond, Virginia, added a Silver Gloves regional title on Sunday in Compton, California.
Sanchez also was named Outstanding Boxer in the boys 12-13 age group.
As reported by Albuquerque’s Steve Garcia, four other New Mexicans, Deandra Soto, Alfonzo Reynaga, Solange Salguero and Jermaine Nez, won Silver Gloves titles in Compton.
