Boxing: Lindenmuth’s bout in Egypt declared no contest
Boxer Katherine Lindenmuth of Bosque Farms, with her trainer Anthony Rosales looking on signs a contract for her Nov. 14 bout against Kazakhstan’s Angelina Lukas in Egypt. The outcome of the bout, originally ruled a victory for Lindemuth, has been changed to no contest after it was alleged that Lindenmuth failed a doping test.
Bosque Farms boxer Katherine Lindenmuth’s Nov. 14 fight against Kazakhstan’s Angelina Lukas in Giza, Egypt, originally announced as a victory by split decision for the New Mexican, has been declared no contest amid allegations that Lindenmuth failed a post-fight doping test.
Lindenmuth has been stripped, at least temporarily, of the WBA Gold super flyweight title she won in the ring that night.
In a statement on social media, Lindenmuth said she did not and never has intentionally ingested a banned substance, saying Lukas, of Kazakhstan, “got the bout to be ruled a no contest.
“Everybody saw me beat her, but she’s also accusing me of doping, which is taking steroids, doing drugs, that kind of thing. You guys know that’s not Kat.”
Lindenmuth (7-5, three knockouts, one no contest) said she’ll have more to say at a news conference, not yet scheduled.
Lukas (15-1, eight KOs, one no contest) also claimed on Instagram that “errors in refereeing were identified.”
