Chuck-A-Skivvy: Ice Wolves promotion to help collect underwear for children in need
The New Mexico Ice Wolves will wear custom Locker #505 jerseys at their March 1 and 2 home games.
The New Mexico Ice Wolves are partnering with Locker #505 Clothing Bank to help raise awareness and money for the nonprofit and also provide clothing — specifically underwear — to children in need.
The promotions include two Chuck-A-Skivvy promotions and a custom-made jersey available for purchase.
Fans of Ice Wolves minor-league hockey are encouraged to bring boys or girls underwear in their original packaging to toss onto the ice (similar to a teddy bear toss) as part of the Chuck-A-Skivvy promotions. Chill Boys will be at Outpost Ice Arenas with packages of new Chill Boys boxers for fans to purchase to toss on the ice. Locker #505 will collect the underwear and distribute the packages to school-age children in the Albuquerque metro area.
The Chucky-A-Skivvy promotions will take place during the second intermission of this Sunday’s NA3HL home game (puck drops at 2 p.m.) and also during the second intermission of the March 2 NAHL home game (puck drops at 6:30 p.m.) Participants will be entered to win prizes, including a jersey signed by the Ice Wolves NA3HL and NAHL teams.
During the NAHL games March 1 and 2, the Ice Wolves will wear custom Locker #505 jerseys. The jerseys, sponsored by Chill Boys, have a “back-to-school look with a hoodie, cargo shorts and backpack,” according to a news release. Game-worn or signed Locker #505 jerseys will be available via a DASH Auction (fans.winwithdash.com) running Feb. 25 to March 5 or there’s a $750 buy-it-now option. Proceeds go to Locker #505.
“We could not have served almost 3,500 students since July without events like the Ice Wolves’ Skivvy Tosses. This is not only a fun event, but extremely helpful for Locker #505,” said Kim Kerschen, director of the nonprofit.
The NA3HL Ice Wolves host the Atlanta Capitals in their last home stand of the season, Friday through Sunday, at Outpost Ice Arena. On March 1 and 2, the NAHL Ice Wolves host the Odessa Jackalopes.
