New UNM Lobo forward Mustapha Amzil capped his summer of international play and representing his home country in winning fashion on Sunday.

The 6-foot-9 transfer from Dayton had full statline of 11 points, 9 rebounds (5 offensive), 3 assists and a steal and Finland comfortably handled Romania, 76-61, to claim 5th place in the World University Games in Chengdu, China.

Finland, with Amzil leading the team in scoring and rebounding overall in China, went 4-1 in their five games -- the lone loss coming in the closing seconds to the eventual gold medal winner Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Czech Republic won gold on Sunday, topping Brazil 69-67. The United States took bronze, beating Argentina 102-91 earlier in the day (Team USA lost to Brazil in the semifinal round).

In five games, Amzil averaged for Finland 15.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

He transferred from Dayton in the spring and is one of four Division I transfers to the Lobos roster this offseason.
