Ice Wolves: NA3HL team gets visits from kids and a wolf, sponsors skivvy toss
The New Mexico Ice Wolves will wear special edition Locker #505 jerseys for a three-game homestand, which began Thursday and goes through Saturday.
The New Mexico Ice Wolves NA3HL team hosts the Atlanta Capitals at the Outpost Ice Arenas for a fun filled weekend of events including a school-day matinée, a visit from a live wolf, and a skivvy toss. The team will be wearing special edition Locker #505 jerseys in support of the local student clothing bank, available for auction on DASH Auctions.
LAST WEEK: The Ice Wolves were in North Richland Hills, Texas, to take on the Texas Brahams and went 2-1 in the three-game series. While in Texas, the Ice Wolves welcomed four new players to the to fill out the roster as the postseason quickly approach.
RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sitting in second place of the South Division and third overall in the league, the Ice Wolves come into the weekend with a 31-6-2-2 record. The Atlanta Capitals are second to last in the division with an 8-32-1-0 record. Last time the teams met, at the beginning of the month, the Ice Wolves swept the Capitals in a three-game series, outscoring their opponents a combined 32-4.
PLAYERS TO KNOW: New addition Max Arlt, who previously played for the Gillette Wild, is the current points leader on the team with 20 goals and 43 assists for a total of 63 points. Kyle Mackintosh, who has had a strong presence since being added in January, has 54 points, second-most on the team.
DETAILS: The series kicked off Thursday, with the Ice Wolves winning 5-0 in a school day matinée. The crowd was filled with elementary students, some of whom experienced their first ever hockey game. The Ice Wolves and Capitals will also play at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Friday night, Wa-Pi the wolf, from the Wanagi Wolf Fund and Rescue, will make an appearance. Saturday night is the skivvy toss for Locker #505. Fans are encouraged to bring as many new packages of underwear as they can toss on the ice, which will be donated to Locker #505. Fans will have a chance to win a balloon ride for two from Rainbow Ryders and a team signed jersey.
Single game tickets start at $15 for reserved stadium chair seats and $10 for bleacher seats.
