Lobos land commitments from Iowa State tight end, USC cornerback
UNM up to four commitments from the transfer portal in the first week
Iowa State tight end Tripp Walsh and Southern Cal cornerback Kevin Longstreet committed to New Mexico on Thursday, bringing the Lobos’ total number of transfer additions to four.
Walsh, a 6-6, 240-pound redshirt sophomore, appeared in all 12 games this season with the Cyclones, catching one pass for nine yards. The Arrowhead (Wisc.) High School graduate announced his commitment via a post on X.
Walsh has two years of eligibility remaining.
Longstreet, a 5-9, 190-pound redshirt sophomore, made four tackles in as many games with the Trojans last season before the Journal learned of his commitment Thursday. He previously played at Texas A&M and Louisville, the program he committed to out of Inglewood (Calif.) High School.
“Kevin really likes the head coach (Jason Eck) a lot and defensive coordinator (Spence Nowinsky) as well,” his dad, Kevin Longstreet Sr., told On3.com. “He likes the grittiness of the program and is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase his talent at multiple positions.”
Longstreet has two years of eligibility remaining.
