Look out for No. 51.
Green Bay linebacker Keshawn Banks has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the Packers’ NFC Divisional playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night.
The Rio Rancho native and Rio Rancho High School graduate is being elevated for the first time since he was signed as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State in May. The move comes in response to linebacker Kingsley Enagbare’s season-ending injury during a 48-32 win over the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday.
After starring at Rio Rancho from 2014-17, the 6-foot-3, 251-pound Banks earned second team All-Mountain West honors twice at San Diego State. He primarily played defensive end, racking up 137 total tackles (42 for a loss), 13 sacks and one forced fumble in his five-year career with the Aztecs.
After he was signed by the Packers on May 5, Banks was released on Aug. 29 before being re-signed to the practice squad a day later. An appearance on Saturday night would mark his first in a non-preseason NFL game.
Green Bay kicks off against San Francisco at 6:15 p.m. Mountain.
