The Mountain West Conference awarded two UNM basketball players for their exceptional play last week.

Charlotte Kohl, the starting center for the women's team, received the MW's women's player of the week award. Meanwhile, forward JT Toppin was named the conference's men's freshman of the week.

Kohl logged her first career double-double with 14 points and 20 rebounds in the Lobos' 75-74 home win over Texas A&M Commerce on Wednesday. Both totals were career highs for the 6-foot-5 native of Germany, a graduate transfer from Mississippi State. Kohl also recorded a career-high four blocks in the win.

Toppin also recorded his first career double-double last week in an 82-80 victory over UT Arlington at the Pit on Thursday. Toppin set career highs with 15 points and 10 rebounds and became the first Lobo true freshman to post a double-double since Hugh Greenwood had 10 points and 10 rebounds in a victory at Boise State in 2011-12.

A 6-9 frontcourt player from Dallas, Toppin is the first Lobo to earn the conference's freshman of the week recognition since the conference debuted the award during the 2021-22 season.
