Dorn Trotz 1937-2025 Dorn Trotz died on February 17, 2025 at 87 years old. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Trotz; his two children, Doreen (Ron) and Michael Trotz. He has three grandchildren: Bryce, Bailey and Fiona. Dorn had an exceptional life that included traveling around the world and getting to really know the state of New Mexico with his construction business. Dorn fell in love with Placitas, New Mexico when his father's construction company was paving the road into Placitas from 1-25. He bought his house on a hill and proceeded to live there for the next 60 years. He and Betty were a part of the Placitas Heights community for all the years they lived there. Dorn had many friends that he kept in touch with over the years and had a standing weekly lunch date with his buddies. He lamented in his last few weeks that there were only a few of his friends left. He appreciated John and Mike visiting him when he was in rehab and assisted living and his Boulder frat brothers, George and Pete, checking on him weekly. His favorite memories he loved sharing was his time in college as a Kappa Sigma in Boulder, Colorado. He lived on the Hill and worked at The Sink. He loved University of Colorado football and was a lifelong fan. His impressive buffalo collection (in honor of CU Ralphie) took up many of his book shelves and often watched football with him. Dorn had many passions in his life that included old musicals, good movies, reading, college football, snappy blazers and a good steak. He was a dog person but one in particular being his favorite, Sadie, she adopted him one summer when was working in Quemado, NM. Dorn lived a good life and will be missed by all. He was buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, March 7th, 2025. At his request, there will be no service.
