11 free things to do in July in Albuquerque

Looking for some fun things to do this summer without breaking the bank? There are a handful of things to do in Albuquerque this month all which are free.

Here's the list:

Open Mic Night at Ancora

When: July 10, 6-9 p.m.

Where: Ancora Cafe and Bakery

Every Wednesday night, Ancora Cafe and Bakery hosts an open mic night, great for individuals wanting to perform and meet new people, as well as an entertaining event for all guests. More information can be found here.

Yoga in the Park

When: Recurring weekly on Saturday, 8 a.m.

Where: Winrock Town Center

Every Saturday morning there is an 8 a.m. free community yoga session in the park at Winrock Park. Everyone from beginners to advanced yogis are welcome and encouraged to join.

Live Music at Town & Ranch

When: Recurring weekly on Thursday, 5-7 p.m.

Where: Town and Ranch

Every Thursday evening, the Town and Ranch cocktail lounge offers live music with local artists for free. Town and Ranch also offers local spirits and craft cocktails. Children under 16 are not allowed in the cocktail lounge and minors 16 or older must have a guardian present.

Movies in the Park: Guardians of The Galaxy, Vol. 3

When: July 12 at sundown

Where: Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center

BernCo is putting on a Movies in the Park program this summer, free for all. The movie will begin at sundown, so bring a blanket and your friends to enjoy this film under the stars. Moviegoers can bring food and drinks, but no alcohol or glass is permitted.

Teen Nights - Arts & Crafts Night

When: July 12, 6-9 p.m.

Where: Singing Arrow Community Center

This event is free for ages 12 to 18 years old and offers painting, beading, sculpting, and weaving for free. Food and drinks are available as well and you can pre-register here.

Summer Soul-stice Jam

When: July 13, noon-5 p.m.

Where: 4800 Central Ave. SE, Albuquerque

This fun competition is free for spectators, featuring hip-hop dance demonstrations from dancers all around the area. There are classes for all ages and anyone who wants to compete can sign up for $20.

Albuquerque Concert Band Performance

When: July 17 at 7 p.m.

Where: NM Veterans Memorial Park

The Albuquerque Concert Band invites you to join them for their free, family-friendly concert. Held at the NM Veterans Memorial Park, there are benches and grass areas to sit and lounge with friends and family or have a picnic in the amphitheater. Admission is completely free and the concert is open to the public. More information can be found here.

4th Annual Hero in All Of Us

When: July 19, noon-6 p.m.

Where: New Mexico Shriners Ballut Abyad Event Hall

This event is free, with heroes, princesses, costume contests, vendors, and more. Donations are accepted and raffle tickets will be sold to raise money to stand against bullying, benefiting Nonprofits Blessed and Beautiful. This is a chance for kids to meet their heroes for free, and an opportunity to support an anti-bullying cause.

Native American Artisans Portal Summer Youth Show

When: July 20, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: New Mexico History Museum

This event features arts and crafts by youth artists who are showcasing and selling their work. Visiting the Summer Youth Show is a fun way to support the talents of the next generation of Native American artists and enjoy seeing lots of different artistic mediums. Entry is completely free for all. More information can be found here.

Route 66 Summerfest

When: July 20, 5-10 p.m.

Where: Girard Blvd. to Washington St.

This free event has local bands, food trucks, and kids activities like face painting and inflatable obstacle courses. Summerfest runs along a mile-long stretch on Central Ave. from Girard Blvd. to Washington St. with four stages set up for different bands. Local businesses will be featured with handmade products set up in booths. More information can be found here.

Dana Tai Soon Burgess, Teaching Artist in Residence

When: July 27, 6-8 p.m.

Where: The Hiland Theater

This performance features choreography by Dana Tai Soon Burgess and will be performed by the DTSB Dancy Company and NDI New Mexico’s students. Entry is free.
