Fatal crash involving dump truck closes westbound I-40

Interstate 40 west near Zuzax is closed after a man was fatally struck by a dump truck, the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office said. 

Deputies were dispatched to I-40 westbound around 9 a.m. after receiving reports that a man had been hit by a vehicle, BCSO said in a news release. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the man was declared dead on the scene. 

"All westbound traffic on Interstate 40 is stopped and being diverted off the interstate at the Zuzax exit (exit 178)," the release states.
