Athleisure retailer Alo Yoga chooses Uptown for first New Mexico store
The store is expected to open in late spring
A yoga apparel brand is stretching into the Southwest with its first New Mexico store in Uptown.
Alo Yoga plans to open a store at the ABQ Uptown shopping center, situated near the intersection of Louisiana and Indian School NE, in late spring, according to ABQ Uptown General Manager Katrina Taylor.
Based in Los Angeles, Alo has more than 100 stores across the United States, with several more internationally. The company is known for its premium selection of athletic apparel, including sweatshirts, leggings, shoes and bags. The company has rapidly expanded over the past several years, growing from roughly 70 U.S. stores in 2024.
Taylor said the ABQ Uptown team is excited about onboarding Alo, which she said will “add to our unique tenant base and enhance our shopping experience.”
The athleisure retailer will fill a space formerly occupied by Chico’s, a clothing store that moved out of the center in January. Alo is currently in the process of renovating the space, Taylor said.
The shopping center has welcomed several other popular clothing stores — including Ariat, Carhartt, Free People, Fabletics and Lululemon — since Indiana-based Simon Property Group, the largest U.S. shopping mall owner, acquired the property in 2011.
In addition to shopping, the center also has a variety of food and beverage offerings, including McAlister’s Deli, California Pizza Kitchen, Old Barrel Tea Co., Buffett’s Candies and Rice Box & Boba. The center is slated to welcome a Benihana — New Mexico’s first — according to signage at the property.
Working “hard to attract first to market retail, restaurants and services,” is a priority for the center, Taylor said.
